Since 2011, H&M Distribution has been established in St Neots as your local Palletways member and has recently introduced its pallet courier service to all of the SG postcode area to complement its long and successful pallet collection from Bedford and surrounding MK postcodes.
Not only did this mean a doubling of its fleet but it also decided to invest in business development by dragging Mike Bentham out of a too-comfortable semi-retirement.
Mike has almost 20 years’ sales and marketing experience within the transport and logistics sector and, having always held a quiet admiration for H&M, it didn’t take too many conversations to get him to willingly put down his fishing rod, get out his laptop and pen and re-awaken his dormant commercial instinct:
“I was lucky enough to choose to plan my 2019 around ticking off those jobs which never get done at the weekend and punctuate them with some neglected hobbies and valuable time with my fiancé and family. However, by the time September came around, the sun grew more distant and the thought of working with H&M grew larger, I realised I missed the buzz of sales and marketing and the very human aspects of building positive relationships with people across many business sectors.
One of the many great things of working with H&M is that its content for me to make client visits on my motorcycle as it sees it as “quirky”. Apart from the inevitable curse of helmet hair, it’s a great way to combine my passions for both motorcycling and business development.
Living very locally, our main pallet courier and warehousing target area of Stevenage, Hitchin, Letchworth, Biggleswade and Sandy, along with the more established areas in and around Bedford, are just a steady twist of the throttle away and so far all customers have been warmly welcoming……..Once I’ve removed my helmet, of course!
I’m surrounded by a great team at the St Neots depot which shares the essential H&M genetics of operational efficiency and service excellence. Alongside these, H&M’s top-down sales orientation is deep within its DNA so I know that when I offer operational and/or commercial advantage to prospective customers, it comes with full support.
